Lismore Friendship Festival

The Lismore Friendship Festival has held three successful, Piazza in the Parks, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

This event was first devised when Creative Lismore acknowledged the need to hold an event on the day after the Lismore Lantern Parade, to attract visitors to stay overnight.

Lismore’s friendship relationship with Conegliano & Vittorio Veneto in Italy is long standing but had been in abeyance for some time. This public celebration is a way to revitalise the connection and acknowledge the contribution made by Italian settlers to the district over 138 years.

The event is based on engagement with all residents and visitors and offers individuals, business and government an opportunity to invest in a sense of place and the cultural life of the community through food, music, dancing, performances, tug-o-war, bocce, exhibitions, language lessons and an opportunity for people with different backgrounds to come together to celebrate our shared Italian history. It takes place in the middle of winter on a Sunday invigorating the CBD on traditionally a slow day in Lismore.
