Sunday Sessions – The Craft Café

Also known as workshops, come along and make your own wearable work of art, greeting cards, mosaics, plant pots and a host of other wonderfully useful items in these small group workshops – perfect for a girls afternoon, hens party, any kind of get together!

I’m totally excited to be offering small group workshops a couple of times each month, always on a Sunday, but depending on demand, I’m open to running these more frequently. We’re talking small groups (the shop just ain’t that big!!) or if you’ve got a group of up to 6, I can schedule a workshop just for you – either in the shop or at your place, even your office – perfect for a girls afternoon, hens party, any kind of get together!

All workshops include all your materials (aka the Kit), great company, and snacks! Prices start from around $60 per person depending on what you want to make.

You could make a day of it too, and have lunch in town (The Sherwood, the Metropole, Mary G’s, The Bank Cafe, Dark Horse Espresso and other places are close by – search the What’s Open), come and make something unique that’s yours and yours alone, and then go and see a movie at the Starcourt Cinema afterwards. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!

If you have a project on the fly, something you’d like to make, or a stash of craft materials that you don’t know what to do with … you can book an hour or two with me and you can learn some new skills,  or bounce ideas around so you can get started! The cost for this is around $30 per hour depending on what you’re wanting to do and covers incidental and materials.

The following crafts are all possible – if you’ve got a particular something you’d like to learn about, let me know and I’ll get it arranged, and if you can’t make it to a workshop, you can request an alternative time either at the shop, your home or office.

  • Acrylic paint/Paint pours: Handpainted linen tea towels, Christmas baubles, coasters, glassware
  • Alcohol inks: Handpainted scarves, mugs, cup & saucer, Christmas baubles, coasters
  • Candle making with James Road Creations
  • Mosaics: planter using your favourite (but broken) teacup, Christmas baubles (this one is pretty intense!)
  • Body products with Milk Body or Bathbombs (kid friendly workshop) with James Road Creations
  • Using paper/decoupage: Gift wrapping, greeting cards, Christmas baubles, placemats and coasters (you can do a lot with a paper serviette!)
  • Quick gifts for Christmas, or Christmas crackers to decorate your table

And then there’s art resin, terrazzo (Jesmonite or similar) and even Plaster of Paris which is a very underrated medium!

I’ve had so many requests for art resin workshops that I’ll likely do several of these … but … we have to wait for the weather to  be a little kinder. Too hot or humid, the resin doesn’t always set and there is nothing worse than bendy resin!! And if it’s too cold, the resin is harder to work with. It’s a dilemma that I grapple with whenever I do resin pours (and I just love working with this medium!).
